Perception

What is right? And what exactly is wrong? What I consider right may seem outrageous to you. And what you consider right may seem outrageous to me. It is all a matter of perception when it comes to it.
When you think about us, most of us think ourselves to be right, even if others deem us wrong. I think that perhaps this is the reason for most of our world's conflicts.
Most people go out to do what they see right, even if others see it as evil. We all have our own views. Some people go out, and kill countless innocents thinking that they are doing right, thinking they are contributing to the "greater good" when in reality what they are doing is downright crazy (in my opinion),
But in reality there aren't many people out there that are actually evil. Corrupt yes. Damaged yes. Crazed most likely but in their minds they see what their doing to be right.
Even Hitler. I know, I know he was "evil" but do you think he thought of himself that way? In his deranged mind he saw what he was doing was right and was helping the greater good. In reality it was a mass genocide that destroyed so many lives, for countless generations. I can see that it was wrong, I'm sure you can see it was wrong but he honestly thought he was doing right.
It is all a matter of perception.
Not many wars are one sided. Both sides are fighting for their own cause thinking they are right, but in the end it will be the side that won that ends up being "right" and it will be written down in history that they were right.
Even the most innocent of actions can end up in disaster. The greatest harm can result from the best intentions. If you meet a begger on the street who insists he needs the money to feed his family, you will probably give him the money, well if you are kind of heart. But the begger could then go and use that money to get drunk, get in a fight and in a fit of lunacy kill a man. The man being murdered is not your fault, but the harm did spring forth from your good intentions. If you had instead used the money to buy the man food the murder would never have occurred.
In a world as diverse as ours, with so many people and so many cultures who can really dictate what is really right and what really is wrong.
All we can do is stick to our guns I guess, and try not to judge others to harshly by their actions.

Giving you something to think about from Spain.

The Yellow Wood

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference. -Robert Frost
As the trees shed there leaves this fall, I too must shed mine. The strong trunk, the branches and the roots remain, but the leaves must go.
Some people are like leaves on a tree. When autumn comes they show their true colors, before falling from the top and the friendship decays. They become nothing but a mere memory. And when the time comes when you need them the most, when the splintering cold and darkness of winter rolls in they are nowhere to be seen.
What you are left with is the strong trunk, and the roots. The people that matter. This is your support system, this is what sustains you. These are the people who will never, ever leave you. True friends.
Autumn has always been a big time of transition for me, and this year more than ever. A fresh start is needed and a fresh start will be had with the help of college life. This summer I found out what really matters, and who really, really matters to me. I wouldn't let them go for the world.
This autumn before college and school starts again take a step back and assess everything. Look at the people in your life and figure out who are the leaves and who are the branches. I'm not saying you should drop the people you may see as leaves, but just be weary. If you feel unhappy with your life use September as a fresh start. Let this new school year be a launching bad for the life you want.
Fuck New Year's. September is the time for change.

Toxic

That girl is poison baby poison.
Friendships, relationships, cruiseships … scratch the last on but each one of these “ships” ought to be balances right? Well sometimes, a lot of the time they aren’t. It’s a game of give and take, but a lot of people just seem to want to take, and take, and take. And then there are those of us who are the givers the ones that end up taking the shit.
Some relationships like that are just toxic. And some of us are suckers for forgiveness and second chances. How many times does it take before we know we should get the hell out? How many times must the poison make us ill before we learn not to go near it? How many times does one person have to hurt us before we can justify abandoning “ship”?
This is how i see it; When you can recognize that the relationship is bad. When you have been hurt and you know, just know it’s going to happen again. When you realize no matter what way you flavor the poison it is still going to fuck you up, get out and don’t look back.
Friendships and relationships are supposed to bring out the best in each person. They are supposed to make you thrive to be a better person but some people don’t see it that way. Some people merely see it as an opportunity to manipulate and use somebody for their own personal gain. And when they are done they discard you until you are of use again. Well I for one don’t like to think of myself as disposable. If you decide to discard me, you better keep walking.
I’ve learned sometimes you are just better off without certain people in your life. Sometimes it’s better to cut ties for your own well being. Don’t be a doormat, When people treat you badly it’s not ok. As hard as it may be, when you really look deep down you know it’s for best.

Wall Building

Hello my darlings, it’s SecretKeepIt and be warned some of you will be offended by this entry but I will not apologize for my opinion.
I have a problem with the Gay Pride parades. I mean, I’m “gay” but I’m proud every day of my life. I don’t see the point in marching through the capital city just because I’m not straight.
We are looking for equality and acceptance right? Then why do we make ourselves stand out so much. I agree that you should be yourself but do you walk around covered in glitter, feathers and wearing assless chaps every day? If you do that’s fine, it’s you, but I don’t see why on this day you decide to dress up like a stereotype simply because you are gay.
Being gay is part of you. It isn’t what you are, or who you are, it is just part of who you are and piece of what you are. Don’t let your sexuality be your identity. Don’t let it be your complete life. People are “gay” they are not “a gay”.
LGBT is great it really is. It brings people together and provides brilliant support, but in a way these organisations build walls from the outside world. I don’t like how they exclude straight people, and i know that sounds very silly but it’s true. You don’t see people marching in a parade because they are straight.
I just feel the more we alienate ourselves, the bigger a deal we make out of it the bigger the gap is going to be. I think that in gay pride people conform to stereotypes that society expects of them and it just reminds homophobic people why they don’t like us.
Be yourself but don’t be a number
Be gay but don’t be “a gay”.
As long as your happy that is all that counts.

Strut That Shit

Confidence.
The smirk, the look, the walk it’s all part of what makes a person radiate confidence but what is it that brings them there?
The cool charisma, the big personality, the ability to be oneself it all comes in hand with this brilliant trait. But it so is hard to obtain. How do we move past those voices in our head telling us not to stand out; that we’ll make a fool of ourselves. How do we stop caring what others think, ignore those judgmental looks?
During the junior cycle of my school life I was the field mouse, the shadow, the quiet one. Yes I answered in class, raised my hand, knew all the answers but that didn’t exactly make me confident not socially. In groups I was the quiet one, who laughed along with the others but never really made the jokes. Never brought myself to the center stage.
Then something happened, a chance to start again, almost completely afresh. I got to leave the year I was in and move ahead, as I didn’t do TY. So over the summer something changed. I decided I was done being the quiet one. And magically I was confident.
No not really. I faked it. I put on this brave face. I adopted the “fake it till you make it” act. The butterflies were still there, the sudden scarlet face was always threatening to appear but I learned to act like they didn’t exist. I played the role of this brand new confident person who made people laugh, sometimes at me, but mostly with me. And eventually it stopped being an act, it was just who I was.
So my advice is, if you need that boost of confidence, just fake it till you make it. I learned the only way to earn respect almost instantly is to walk into any room as though you own it. Strut that shit, even if you think you look awful. But most importantly just let the part of you that struggles to get out past the insecurities shine, even if it is just for show.
But remember there is a fine line between confidence and arrogance so tread carefully my darlings.
